About ExperTuition

Meet Nelly, Creator of ExperTuition

Welcome to ExperTuition! I’m Stephen Nelly Nketsiah, the founder and creator of ExperTuition. I develop standards-aligned math resources for Grades 3–5, including worksheets, task cards, assessments, and review activities for elementary classrooms.

My journey into educational resource creation took shape in 2019, while I was serving as a teaching assistant at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and tutoring students privately. As part of my tutoring, I regularly prepared my own assessment questions after teaching each topic. These questions helped me check students’ understanding, see how well they could apply what they had learned, and identify areas where they needed more practice.

How ExperTuition Began

2019

As I tutored students and saw how much they improved, I began to regard myself as an expert in tutoring. That confidence inspired the name ExperTuition, combining the idea of expertise with tuition, the work through which I had helped my students improve.

Late 2019

Preparing my own assessment questions was a regular part of my tutoring, but on one occasion, I had finished teaching a topic and didn’t have enough time to write the questions myself. I searched online for materials I could use immediately, and that search led me to Teachers Pay Teachers (TPT).

November 2020

I already had teaching materials saved on my computer, so I researched how the platform worked. In November 2020, I opened a seller account and began uploading refined versions of some of my existing materials.

Following months

As sales came in, I researched the market to understand teachers’ needs better. I learned how important standards-aligned resources are for providing relevant practice and addressing the knowledge and skills expected at each grade level.

Grade 4 & beyond

I initially focused on Grade 4 math before expanding to Grades 3–5 to serve a wider range of elementary students. Grade 4 remains the focus of most of my resources.

What began with materials I created for my own tutoring gradually grew into a resource business serving teachers beyond my individual sessions. My experience preparing assessment questions and identifying students’ learning needs continues to influence how I write questions and develop resources.

The Math Resources I Create

ExperTuition offers math resources for Grades 3–5 covering multiplication, division, place value, number patterns, word problems, and other elementary math topics. These materials support skill practice, unit review, assessment, and test preparation.

When developing resources, I pay attention to question wording, appropriate numbers, clear instructions, and the mathematical reasoning students need to demonstrate. I want the materials to be useful to teachers and give students meaningful opportunities to practice skills and show what they understand.

Depending on the resource, materials may include:

  • Worksheets for individual skills and broader topics
  • Visual models and worked examples where appropriate
  • Differentiated versions for varied learning needs
  • Answer keys and data trackers
  • Color and black-and-white task card versions, with recording sheets and answer sheets where provided
  • Cumulative reviews and test preparation activities

Features vary by product. Each listing explains what is included so teachers can choose materials that fit their lessons and students’ needs.

ExperTuition primarily serves teachers working with students in Grades 3–5. The resources may also be useful to homeschool families, private tutors, and other educators looking for structured elementary math practice.

Teachers can use the materials to reinforce individual skills, review completed units, provide additional practice, assess understanding, or prepare students for tests. The aim is to make it easier to find resources that match the skills being taught and the learning goals for each class.
